Below: The active volcano in Colima, Mexico.
While anchored off Las Hadas, we decided to take a bus inland to see the much talked-about town of Colima, with its active volcano nearby. We went with John and Susan of COMPAÑÍA, fellow cruisers with a Tayana 42 sailboat. John and Susan came down from San Diego with us on the Baja HaHa Cruising Rally. We left very early in the morning, and took the local bus to the Manzanillo bus station, where we took a luxury bus (the Mexican equivalent of an airplane) to Colima, on the superhighway that connects the Port of Manzanillo with Guadalajara. Eduardo, the dockmaster at Las Hadas, had given us some instructions on what to see, supplemented by Susan Dearing's "Manzanillo and the state of Colima" guide. We spent a jam-packed day, enjoying the many sights and the music of the mariachis. We returned home to our boats late in the evening, tired, but joyous at having seen so many wonders. We took A LOT of pictures, and we will refrain posting many of them just because of the sheer volume of storage they would require. Hopefully, we will be able to show you some more of them some day.
